Both Elvira Mulkay and Max Van de Perre got their master’s degree in 2025 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Mulkay in sculpture, Van de Perre in painting.
Their works appear to be in a joyful conversation.
We invite you as a visitor to experience that fortunate synergy, and moreover, cast your own opinion upon these emerging strong talents.

Max Van de Perre,
on his work
“I search the streets for graphic elements that intrigue me. These often have a function and meaning. I explore them by photographing them. Ultimately, I strip off their original function. By projecting these photos, I then define with tape the contours of the image that interests me. By painting over it, new patterns emerge. Chance gets its chance: I cause “accidents” through the reaction of the tape with the paint. This results in an aesthetic that I like. The materials do their own work. That’s an element that I have learned to embrace and that I know from my practice in free graphics.”
